Privacy
We built this site to know as little about you as possible. Here's exactly what happens to your information.
What we don't collect
- No accounts, names, emails or passwords.
- No link in our database between a post and the person who wrote it.
- No record of who reported a post.
- Nothing at all from a private release. Those words burn away on your device, and they're never sent to us.
What we store
- Your post: the words you release, a random name, the time, and the count of people carrying it. Posts are public, so don't include anything that could identify you or anyone else. People can only use our image sharing on a post if its writer allowed it, but anyone can still copy text or take a screenshot.
- A scrambled form of your internet address (IP): kept for a limited time to enforce posting and reporting limits. It's then deleted automatically, and it's never stored with your post.
- A scrambled session ID with your replies: so that “I Carry This Too” and the other replies count once per person. It isn't linked to your name or your posts.
- A scrambled removal code for each post: so that only you can take it back.
- Reports: which post was reported and why.
- Feedback you send us: your message and its type. It isn't linked to you. A testimonial only appears on the site if you agreed and a moderator approved it.
If our crisis check stops a post, its words aren't stored. Normally that check happens in your browser, before anything is sent.
What's stored in your browser
- A session cookie that lasts up to 90 days, used only for replies.
- The list of posts you released, with their removal codes, for the Yours page. On a shared device, anyone using this browser could see it. You can clear it on the Yours page.
- Your sound setting.
Ads
There are no ads on this site right now, and no code from advertising companies. If that changes, we'll update this page first.
Companies that help run the site
- Vercel hosts the site. Like most hosts, it may process your internet address and keep technical logs of requests.
- Supabase hosts the database. Our servers talk to it, not your browser.
Your choices
- Take back a post at any time from the browser you wrote it in.
- Clear your browser's data to remove the cookie and your list of posts.
- Because we can't tell who wrote a post, we can't find “your” posts for you if you lose access to that browser.
Age
This site is for adults aged 18 or over.
