About the room

TheSafeRoom is a quiet place to write down what you've been carrying, without an account, a name or any comments.

Why it exists

Some things are hard to say to anyone who knows you. Saying them anyway, even to no one in particular, can make them lighter. Reading that a stranger feels the same can help too.

How it works

  • You write. There's no sign-up, email or password.
  • You release it. Your words appear in the room under a random name, and each post gets a new one.
  • Or you keep it private. “Release privately” burns your words on your device. Nothing is sent or saved.
  • People can only reply with a few kind phrases. “I Carry This Too”, “I hear you”, “Sending you strength” and “I got through this” each add to a count. There are no comments or private messages, so nobody can argue with you or contact you.
  • You can take it back. Yours lists what you released from this browser, and lets you remove it.

How the room stays safe

  • Links, phone numbers, emails, usernames and payment details are blocked, to stop scams.
  • Anyone can report a post, and a moderator reviews reports.
  • If someone writes about wanting to harm themselves, we show them helplines before anything is posted.

Please read the rules, and see how your privacy is handled.

What the room isn't

TheSafeRoom isn't therapy, medical advice or an emergency service. No one here is watching over you, and we can't contact you. If you're in danger, please call your local emergency number, or use the helplines linked at the bottom of every page.
